The 2010 Wachovia Sixes tournament will be played on quality field turf fields at E.C. Glass & Heritage High Schools in Lynchburg, Virginia.

The Wachovia Sixes is a Six-A-Side, Outdoor Tournament with full sized goals. It’s a fun, fast-paced setting that’s a great way to open the spring soccer season! This is a ONE DAY tournament.

Because it’s a ONE-DAY tournament, you can;
- Save on Hotel Fees.
- Lower the cost of your Tournament Fee Expenses for your team (reduced tournament fee as compared to full-sided tournaments).

Fees: $170.00 Per Team (of up to 10 players), if you enter 2 teams from the same full-sided team roster, the second team fee is $130.00.

Here are some updated key dates:

- Standard Registration Begins: Monday, January 2, 2010
- Standard Registration Ends: Friday, February 12, 2010 (Extended)
- Late Registration Begins: Saturday, February 13, 2010 ($15 Late Fee)
- We will BEGIN FORMATION OF TEAMS: Monday, February 15, 2010
- AFTER February 15, 2010 registrations will be taken on a standby/wait-list based on availability.

- CVU Recreation Program Parents Meeting: March 11, 2010
- Practices will begin on March 15, 2010
- Season matches begin on March 27, 2010
- Season concludes no later than June 5, 2010

U9/U10 CVU Academy Program Tryout Rescheduled to February 11th…

Due to the rescheduling of the Lynchburg College Woman’s Showcase to this coming weekend (February 6 & 7), we have had to reschedule the planned U9/U10 Academy Program Tryouts.

The new schedule is as follows:
Date: Thursday, February 11, 2010
Location: E.C. Glass HS on the Field Turf
Registration: On-Site starting at 5:30pm $10 non-refundable tryout fee
Tryout: 6 – 7:30pm.

CVU Technical Director Brent Kellum will contact all participants with 48 hours of the conclusion of the tryout to inform you of your son or daughters status.

CVU Academy Information

The CVU Academy Program entered its inaugural season in the Fall of 2009. The Academy players were involved in three festivals (four were scheduled with one canceled due to inclement weather), in those festivals our Academy players achieved great success and improvement through the course of the season.

CVU Unveils New Coaching Licensure Requirements for 2010…

Central Virginia United (CVU) is raising the bar for our Travel Program and Academy Program Coaching Staff’s and Trainers with a newly established Coaching Licensure Requirements for 2010. These standards will be affective beginning with the Fall 2010 Season in order for current coaches to increase their credentials.

CVU Travel Program Licensure Requirements
(Effective Fall 2010 Season)

Head Coach Elite Travel Team
Minimum: USSF National “C” License – or – NSCAA National Diploma

Waivers: Ability to secure minimum required license prior to September 1, 2010 (at CVU Director’s Discretion)

Head Coach White Travel Team
Minimum: USSF “D” License
Waivers: Ability to secure minimum required license prior to September 1, 2010 (at CVU Director’s Discretion)

Head Coach Red Travel Team
Minimum: USSF “E” Certificate – or – NSCAA Advanced Regional Diploma
Waivers: Select Entry Level Coaches with Collegiate Playing Experience (at CVU Director’s Discretion) with ability and intention to secure USSF “D” License within (1) Year.

CVU is looking for additional U13 Boys interested in joining our thriving travel program for the Spring of 2010.

CVU Technical Director Coach Brent Kellum has been awarded the NSCAA Advanced National Diploma!

Central Virginia United is very proud to announce that CVU Technical Director, Coach Brent Kellum, who leads our U9/U10 Academy Program and coaches in our travel program (currently the head coach of the U13 Girls White team) has received his NSCAA Advanced National Diploma. Brent took the week long NSCAA Advanced National Diploma course in early January in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

CVU is proud of Coach Kellum’s commitment to coaching education, youth soccer, and our club. His new credential will go along way in continuing to advance CVU players that he touches.

CVU Travel Coach Amy Dahlin has been awarded the NSCAA National Diploma!

Amy took the week long NSCAA National Diploma course in early January in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

CVU U18 Girls Elite Win 3 at the TFC Friendlies College Showcase in Fayetteville NC!

The CVU U18 Girls Elite team travelled to Fayetteville NC this past weekend to play in the Triangle Futbol Club “Friendlies” College Showcase.

On Saturday, January 23rd, the girls played host TFC White (ranked #19 in the state of North Carolina according to soccerincollege.com) and began the showcase with a 1 – 0 victory over the host squad.

Saturday afternoon the girls matched up vs. the LUYAA Man U side from Frederick Maryland (ranked #8 in the state of Maryland according to soccerincollege.com). The girls allowed one goal and were behind but came back in the match strong defeating the girls from Maryland 2 – 1.

An “All-Star” match was played on Saturday evening in front of a nice crowd under the lights. Ashlea Caylor and Katherine Frank played in the Junior All-Star tilt representing CVU in a very competitive and highly entertaining scrimmage with other All-Star players from other teams. Ashlea and Katherine’s teammates, parents and coaches attended the All-Star Game to provide support to their teammates!

Sunday morning the girls would finish up their showcase experience with a solid 4 – 0 convincing win over the FCCA Rowan side from North Carolina (ranked #23 in the state of North Carolina according to soccerincollege.com).

Several CVU players were identified by attending college coaches from institutions from NCAA Division II and III schools and NAIA schools.

The CVU U18 Elite team has just 5 Seniors this year, and look to elevate their game in the coming year. Many of these girls will go on to play at the next level.

Congratulations to Head Darien McClurg and his Assistant/GK Coach Miles Tranks on a job well done with this group of highly talented, motivated and intelligent young ladies. A very special thanks to Cathy Greene who has served as the teams’ manager for many, many years…

The CVU Travel Program Summer Soccer Camp is back in 2010.

This camp is for our 2010 – 2011 Travel Teams/Players and is viewed as the backbone to the proper start of the season for each of our teams formed for the new soccer year!

Our teams that have had high-participation in this camp have historically had very good fall seasons… The CVU Director of Coaching will bring in high level coaches for the teams and players to train with for this 12 hour/four day camp.
