Kindergarten Kickers will be made up on Wednesday, July 9, 2008 from 6 – 7 PM

Recreation & Travel Training will be made up on Friday, July 11, 2008;

Recreation players from 5:00 – 6:15 PM & Travel Players from 6:30 – 7:45 PM

All Programs at the Lynchburg Regional Soccer Complex as normal

The Fall 2008 Recreation Program is open to all 
boys and girls ages 4 – 18.

The Summer Soccer Program is open to the entire youth soccer community; you do not have to be a member of Lynchburg United Soccer Club to participate. We welcome ALL youth soccer players in our summer program.

The Lynchburg United Soccer Office Hours have been modified during the summer program. The office will be open from 12 – 4 PM and then office staff will relocate to the Lynchburg Regional Soccer Complex for Summer Program Registration and Check-In.

Charlie will also be nominated to the state for consideration as the Virginia Youth Soccer Association (VYSA) Competitive Coach of the Year.

                                2008 Travel Coach of the Year! 

Two Lynchburg United Travel Teams have won Division Championships in the Skyline Club Soccer League’s Spring 2008 Season. Those teams are:

The U14 Girls White: Girls 11 V 11 Division 1 Champions. Head Coach Armando Corrales, assisted by Matt Bright.  

The U12 Boys White: Boys 8 v 8 Division 1 Co-Champions. Head Coach Charlie Larson, assisted by Scott Meinke & Pierre Mortemousque.

As a club, Lynchburg United had 9 travel teams in 6 of the 8 divisions within the Skyline League this past spring season. Of the 6 divisions that we had teams, our teams won two of the divisions, finished second in two others and took third in another. The club finished just one point away from being the overall league club champion. Congratulations to other LUS teams that earned the club league championship points:

If your son and/or daughter have been selected to Lynchburg United Travel Teams for the 2008 – 2009 Seasonal Year, but you were unable to attend the Travel Program Informational Meeting held on June 5th, below are links to open files of documents made available to parents at that meeting.

All newly constructed Travel Teams will be having individual team meetings by the teams head coach. Those meetings should be conducted in the next two weeks if possible. The teams head coach and/or team manager (if the team has a manager in place) will contact you regarding this meeting.

Manager Meeting & Training - After all teams have managers in place, the LUS Club Director & Administrator will conduct training with the managers. 

If your son or daughter is new to the club, or is in need of a new uniform, we need you to bring them into our office as soon as possible to get sized and complete a uniform order form. We cannot order uniforms until everyone has done this in the travel program as we must submit one order with Adidas.

If you are the parent of a player that ordered pictures taken by the photographer during the Spring 2008 season, they are in and are available for pickup at the Lynchburg United Soccer Office. This past Spring 2008 we conducted a fundraiser in association with the Peel-A-Way Company. To date we have an enormous amount of cards that are unaccounted for. We ask that our club membership double their efforts in returning unsold cards to the Lynchburg United Office so that we may in turn, return them to the Peel-A-Way Company. Also, if you are in possession of any funds from sold Peel-A-Way cards we need that turned in as soon as possible as well. We appreciate your giving this the needed attention – thank you! Being the Lynchburg United Club Director, I am often asked by parents “why” in our recreation program our U6 players play 3 v 3, U8 players play 4 v 4, and U10 players play 5 v 5…

I’ve attached at great video put together by Sky Sports in England. They completed a very interesting statistical study on a young 10 year old boy “Jack”, first playing a 30 minute half in an 11 v 11 (full-sided) scenario, and then “Jack” plays another 30 minute half in the more desired 5 v 5 format. See for yourself what happens in each scenario… this is exactly why we play small-sided in Lynchburg United!
