Travel Program FAQ’s
Q: When are tryouts for the Lynchburg United Travel Teams?
A: Tryouts for All LUS Travel Teams are conducted in May/June each year. The specific details of tryouts will be announced on the main (Home) page of our website in February/March each year.
Q: What age groups are available in the LUS Travel Program?
A: Travel Teams begin at the U12 age group. Teams are in one year increments… U12, U13, U14, U15, U16, U17 and U18. This is for both boys and girls teams.
Q: How many Travel Teams will LUS have in each age group?
A: The LUS Travel Program will support as many teams that can be formed provided that they are comprised of players that are at a competitive level as determined by the LUS Club Director.
Q: How are coaches selected for Travel Teams?
A: The LUS Club Director will determine the coaching slate for the Travel Program. The prospective coaching slate will be announced here on our website by May 1 each year.
Recreational Program FAQ’s
Q: Where do the U6 & U8 teams play their weekly games?
A: All LUS U6 & U8 teams will play weekly during the season at the Lynchburg Regional Soccer Complex. Directions to the Lynchburg Regional Soccer Complex can be located here on our website under: “Facilities, Directions & Maps… Lynchburg Fields”.
Q: Will the U6 & U8 teams always play in the small fields and use the small PUGG style goals?
A: YES – This is Micro-Soccer. This was implemented in the Fall 2006 and will remain in effect. You can learn more about Micro-Soccer and what the philosophy is all about by going to the “Recreation Program… U6 & U8 Micro Soccer Page” here on our website.
Q: How often do Recreational Teams practice?
A: Recreational Teams at ALL age groups will practice at least ONCE per week. However, U10 and older teams may practice more than once if the volunteer coach chooses to have additional practice(s).
Q: Is there additional training available for my son or daughter to get better technically?
A: YES – If your son or daughter is in the age group U10 or U12, the Club Director is personally holding “Technical Training” on Monday and Wednesday evenings in accordance with the detailed schedule provided here on our website, which can be found under: “Recreation Program… U10 & U12 Rec Player Technical Training”.
Q: Is there an additional fee for the Technical Training with the Club Director?
A: NO! – It is provided to you at NO additional cost!
Field Closure FAQ’s
Q: Who determines if fields are closed due to inclement weather or poor field conditions?
A:
1. If they are City owned or City controlled fields, such as Peaks View Park, or City Schools, the Lynchburg Parks & Recreation Department makes that decision.
2. If it is the Lynchburg Regional Soccer Complex. LUS makes the decision.
Q: How do we find out if City fields or the Soccer Complex are closed?
A: The City will make the decision by 3 PM on a weekday and will place the information on their weather cancellation hotline (434) 455-5860. After LUS learns of the City closing fields, we will also place this information here on the main page of our website and on our cancellation line (434) 846-6544. LUS will always place our own closings of the Complex here on the website and on our cancellation line.
